You will need to be running Windows and Microsoft Office 2007 - 2013 to use these instruction. We are currently looking for a Linux solution other than Virtual Box

I start off most of the time with a clean exported contact spreadsheet generated from the CPS. Click on programming then write contacts. On the next screen select export. It will give you either a blank spreadsheet or a spreadsheet containing what you may have in there already:

This will give you the starting point with the correct headers you need to allow importing later. What ever you do be sure to keep the headers in place or you will not be able to import.
As far as a direct importable cvs I use a website at $12 a year best money I spent. Check out http://amateurradio.digital/
Here comes tricky part. Once you get your cvs contact file downloaded , fixed or otherwise done you click on Programming, write contacts, and then import but thats not it. That only imports the contacts into the CPS not the radio. image.png
Once you get a good confirmation on the import then choose write and that will put the database contacts into the radio. Notice however that nothing is showing in the contacts list but trust me they are in that special block of memory I spoke of. image.png

Now you can work only with your Group , Talk Groups that you may want to have to setup your channels around. Think of it as 2 seperate csv files used for 2 different purposes. One for your talk groups and any private calls you may want to make and the 2nd one for just displaying the calling station info on the screenI have attached 2 files for your convenience. You will need to generate you a talk group csv for the channels you need to build but this will get you past the trouble point you were having getting the database into the radio
Let me know if I can help anymore. If you have been doing this way and thinking they were not going in because you could not see them then just realize you just can't see them
